ventura was very special. the best two west coast shows thus far were ventura and san francisco#1. they were filming ventura for something, and everyone (bitch included) was involved. because of that, we got a very special treat at the end. more on that later. amy screwed up "dairy queen" not once, but twice. she started singing the third verse during the second verse (emily got it right). then they stopped to start the second verse again and amy got it wrong AGAIN. emily had a look of horror on her face. it was priceless.
the set itself was really high energy. i rocked out all night. the girls sounded amazing (the sound in the venue was spotless) and the lighting was near perfect for photos. the crowd (for the most part) was really great as well. i am glad that the venue didn't do the dinner ticket deal that they did the last time the indigo girls played there. you had to order a $50 dinner to get to the front, and that food was nasty. also, the front was (for the most part) filled with tables, so it was more of a sit down show (at least up front). last night i was standing, front row, center, slightly amy (but not right in front of her mic, so i had a great view of BOTH of them). that is truly my happy place.
here's the setlist (with some notes)
little perennials
pendulum swinger (the few PSer dancers got a huge emily grin!)
heartache for everyone
power of two
ozilline
run
three county highway
the wood song (perfect version of it)
dairy queen (amy fucks up twice)
trouble
rock and roll heaven's gate
fill it up again
gone again
fly away
three hits
lay my head down
devotion
i believe in love
go (BEST band version of it i have EVER heard)
get out the map
shame on you
closer to fine (with bitch's whole band and danielle sea)
(encore)
tether
last tears (*sigh* the west coast is no longer a "last tears" free zone)
rock and roll heaven's gate (AGAIN because they were filming for something and they needed a second take of this one. it rocked the first time. it TORE THE ROOF OFF the second time. i could listen to that song live ALL night)
galileo (how can they end possibly do this after a second take of "rock and roll heaven's gate"? i thought they should have done a second (and final) encore of "rock and roll heaven's gate" and played "galileo" first).
GREAT show. GREAt conversation with amy, emily, rick, and sulli. GREAT night. i'll be reliving this one for a looooooong time!
